The bible doesn't say women are to have long hair. It says that by ones looks a person should be obviously distinguishable as male or female. In other words a man with long hair looks like a woman from a distance, which is not appropriate. Men should look like men and women like women in every way. This is the exact opposite of the neutral sex or unisex idea in much of society.Is it ever okay for women to have short hair? I know Bible says long hair on a woman is her glory?
I think the exact quote is 'a womans hair is her crowning glory';. It' doesn't say it has to be long, because, frankly, some women look horrid with long hair, myself included. I think all men and cultures agree that hair adds something to women that it doesn't to men, and it's a huge asset when used to display feminine beauty. Some women look lovely and feminine with long hair, some with short, that's how God made us!
I doubt an omnipotent being is going to care too much about the length of everybody's hair. There are more important things in life than hairstyles.

Really? Because my boyfriend has long hair, but he's also 6'2'; with a beard. I don't think anybody is going to think he's a woman, even from a distance. He looks like a Viking. Hardly inappropriately feminine.
That is more of a personal opinion rather than holy writ. It was more of a cultural issue with Paul than doctrine or dogma.
Why not try it? it'll grow back if you don't like it.

I don't care if a woman has long or short hair. Besides, society has moved beyond the 1st century.
