Black women only! What does grease do for your hair?

No offense to the rest of you, it's nothing personal.


Okay I have very stick hair and it dries easily.I know what hair grease does, it moisturizes your and prevents it from getting too dry. But other than that it doesn't really do much. Sometimes I feel like I'm waisting my time using it.Black women only! What does grease do for your hair?
Put the grease in your scalp mainly so it can be absorbed through your roots and nourish your hair. Also use a leave in conditioner when you wash your hair and use a hair polisher on your hair itself.

Well most of us have tinder-dry hair, I can't get a comb through mine without hair oil in it even though its chemically relaxed! I usually rub some in and comb through after I get out of the dryer or after blow drying it.


Maybe you are using the wrong kind, any hair pomade that contains lanolin and bergamot and is mineral based like posners bergamot is great. Stops the ends from breaking too.

Olive oil. Works as well (or better) than any off the shelf hair product. Just put it on generously, wrap it in clingfilm and a warm towel, and then leave it on for as long as you can stand the feel of it (1 hour minimum, longer for black hair, overnight is best).

nothing! It's a common misconception that petrolatum and mineral oil based products are good for our hair. They are lubricants, which means they dont really penetrate or moisturide the hair, they just sit on top of it and stop moisture getting in. This is also suffocating for the scalp, as it blocks follicles and prevents toxins being released. Black women should use alternatives, and products which arent filled with grease. Id suggest investing in a good conditioner. And plus, who wants greasy hair?
For me it moisturizes it and it prevents flakes. Some hair grease helps my hair grow too. It all depends on the hair type.
