as other people are in the position to criticise and demean black women more (especially in terms of their hair?
BQ Do you think black people should try to expose less of certain issues that we face in the black community as it can be used against us.Do you think Chris Rocks good hair docu did more harm for black women then good?
shytt chris rock is more about his pocket. me personally i think some black folk need to let go of the slave mentality. black hair is superior hurr and its obvious. look at how better this white woman looks with black hurr http://www.dreadlocks.us/dreadlocks_pictDo you think Chris Rocks good hair docu did more harm for black women then good?
The documentary only provides knowledge on the matter, whether or not people use it to ridicule others is not the responsibility of the film.
I think that the movie is good. I haven't seen it but I know what it is about. I think that it exposes the issue many black women have with their hair. Some women seem to be ashamed of their hair. I've seen quite a few women with obviously fake hair (ie. it looked plastic or I could clearly see the tracks) who try to convince others that it's real and are really sensitive about the fact that they wear fake hair. I've known a few girls who cried when they had to come to school without their extensions or weaves. It's saddening that some people feel so ashamed of how they were made. I hope that this movie will push some women to confront their issues and hopefully get over it.
BQ: I don't think any issue should be kept quiet. It will only then continue to be an issue. It is only when we are able to openly discuss these issues can we work on fixing them.
I haven't seen the movie, nor do I think I want to... I'm really fed up with this whole ';good hair, bad hair'; topic. When someone decides to make a documentary on REAL issues we're having the black community, then maybe I'll be interested.
When have you ever heard, ';Black woman with relaxed hair, has murdered black woman with natural hair.';
No, how about we address poverty, lack of education, and violence in the black community.
I haven't seen the movie,but I show him on the oprah show. Personally I think he opened more doors for stereotypes dealing with black women's hair. But like I said I haven't seen the movie but if he talks about how black women don't have to wear weaves and put relaxers in their hair then, I would look at it in a positive way.
I think Chris Rock is adorable, but he is an idiot......and so is Oprah for thinking that his ridiculous movie is something to talk about that she makes a show out of it
so what, with the hair.....there are lots of black women who wear their hair naturally, straightened, weaved, permed, pressed.......it's up to the individual women.......and I am sure the ones who weave and braid hair, still do not care where that hair comes from
Lots of white women wear weaves, they ain't fooling nobody
talk done!!!
I'm with Indycar Girl; it really isn't anyone's business someone else's preference on how they want to manage their hair. I relax my hair regularly for VERSATILITY. I like all of the different hair styles that I can achieve with relaxed hair. Why do people want to critsize that right? And why the hell do people care? Is it really THAT big of an issue?
';Do you think black people should try to expose less of certain issues that we face in the black community as it can be used against us.';
No, because our issues are already so blatant... what's the good in trying to conceal it to avoid FURTHER critisism (because we're going to be judged regardless). It's not that big of a deal to me. Let Chris Rock rave and rant about hair when we are in the middle of a war. Ultimately, none of this amounts to @!#$ really.
I have not seen it yet and I'm actually still debating on if I even want to see it. But with all the hoopla it is getting my curiosity is getting the best of me.
BQ: The only time something can get used against us is if we let it.
What? Because it exposed the damage those chemicals are doing to thier hair?
Im glad he did it, black women need to get back to wearing natiural hair.
iI dont think anyone really cares about that movie to ruin black women.
ya, haven't you seen that oprah special on chris rock and his new movie, the black female audience, didn't look so happy lol..
I'm indifferent about it. I've never saw the movie though, but it's nobody's business what women decide to do w/their hair.
everybody hates Chris
i really could care less especially when views on women's hair is coming from a man.
I think it was a sell-outs way to get a paycheck.
Hmmmm
I would like to see it.
They're getting upset at the truth.
