seems like a lot of people think it's such a horrible thing to do at least from what I've read on here and other forums.In your opinion do you think it's wrong for black women to relax their hair?
Not at all... I do think it's wrong when women aren't educated on their hair, whether it be relaxed or natural.





I've seen women with relaxed hair and they look a hot *** mess... I've also seen women with natural hair that look a hot *** mess. Whatever one decides to do with their hair, they need to educate themselves and take care of it to the best of their ability.

I didn't really think that was my place, but apparently at a lot of you have hurt feelings that I don't care about what you do with your hair. I didn't know my opinion on your hair was so important.
My hair is permed because my mom permed it when i was 3 turning 4 and Now i wish that i Could have my hair back to it's natural state but she said that it was hard to manage. Thats the reason why some african american women relax (i call it perm) their hair.

NO. I relax my hair to make it more manageable for me. If I was trying to be ';white'; like alot of people say, then I wouldn't relax it, I'd wear a Silky European Straight Hair wig and Bleach my skin. I understand those who are natural, and thats peachy, but don't put me down for choosing to do with my hair what makes it easiest for me. I have noticed the same thing here. Hair color is damaging to hair also. Tell me Bleach and Peroxide don't damage hair. Yet everyone always wants to demonize hair relaxer. Oh please. Daily heat ruins your hair and as long as you condition, keep your ends trimmed and wait 8-10 weeks between touchups, your hair should not be damaged.
No, I don't think it's bad. And I don't think it's bad for black women to wear weave either. I relax my hair AND wear weave but I took the time to relax my hair and I bought my hair weave so no one has the right to tell me anything about what I should do to my hair.
They can do to their hair whatever they want. Just like all of these stupid emo kids dye their hair black and wear it long and greasy and covering up their eyes. Then the punk or scene or whatever the hell wear the spikes with 4 diff colors dyes and sh!t.





If a Black woman wants straight hair, so the f u c k what! I just wish that Black women would learn the pros and cons of what those chemicals are doing to their hair and their body. Natural is better.
Why do people act like its only black people that perm their hair? The only difference is that our permed hair the difference is visible compared to other races. Anyway i think the whole chemical thing regardless of who does it should be made illegal.
Relaxed hair? Seriously? Only people who truly lack a life would care about something as trivial as that. It's hair. The same hair style isn't going to compliment every girl of a given race. That's natural. If ya wanna change it up, why should people complain?

no, it's not ';wrong';....it may not be the best way to treat some black women's hair......but it's not a wrong or right situation.
I think its unfortunate when they think they cant go without, and wear their hair naturally. But to each his own, who am I to judge.
Yea, its mine. Why not. God gave us coarse hair, and we can do anything with it because of its strength. These people on here are just mad that they cannot even if they wanted to...

I don't relax my hair. I haven't had a relaxer in over 10 years. It was no good for my hair so my mom stopped relaxing it. Instead I hot comb it. I get scolded on both ends (from women who relax their hair and women who wear it natural) saying that it's bad for my hair, it does more damage than a relaxer yadda yadda. Well my hair is longer and healthier than most people who opt to relax it so...who gets the last laugh.





I think a woman who chooses to go all natural is making a bold step, but I won't put down women who choose to relax their hair.
