It's beautiful and the principal at your mother's school is an azzhole. Damn the NAACP. She needs to bring in a good lawyer because that kind of behavior from her principal is ignorant as well as unacceptable. I wish somebody would tell me about the way I choose to style my hair. I'm a teacher and I will rock any damn hairstyle I want and no one had better tell me a damn thing. I am sorry for my passionate response but I cannot stand when the mainstream culture (in this case ';professional'; corporate America) tries to browbeat everyone into doing things a certain way just so that we may please them. And the funny thing is schools are not a corporate society. However, they always want to bring politics into our sphere and it's sickening. Go ahead and rock the damn boat! Forget about that stupid principal and people like him!Is this Un Professional Hair for a Black Woman at work?
I cannot believe that her boss would send her home in this day and age for just leaving her hair the way it naturally is. I did not realise, until now, just how racist America truly is. I had the impression that your country was liberal, opinion -minded and had let go of the racism and hate. I realised that there were a few trolls on here but you have just opened my eyes today.



Yes, I would take this to court and no, it's not unprofessional to be yourself.



I taught in a school here in the UK and there was a girl that came in with her natural hair (afro) and she was certainly not sent home because of her hair! If she was, it would be on the news.



Some kids were sent home because they did not have the correct uniform on. That's all.
What the hell? How can they kick your mom out for having her natural hair. Don't you remember the good old days where nobody cared what the teacher looked like as long as they taught you something by the end of the day. It's not like she came to work with a mohawk.

im white and my hair is naturally like that and i wear it to work like that all the time and i work at a supermarket.

That is professional. It looks pretty and if that's her natural hair, she should be allowed to wear it like that. Your mom should definitely sue.
